Embedded communications built as products, not just prototypes
ZMATRIX develops compact communications software and hardware for specialized voice systems. Our work spans SIP signaling, RTP media, analog telephony, embedded Linux and custom gateway design.
The company has built and sold physical telephony hardware and has commercially licensed its embedded SIP technology. That product experience shapes how we approach engineering engagements: interfaces must be understandable, software must fit the target, and integration details matter as much as protocol diagrams.
Product experience
SK400VOP
SK400VOP is ZMATRIX's lightweight embedded SIP stack written in C. It was designed for products that need control over signaling, media and networking without adopting a desktop-oriented communications framework.
The stack has been commercially licensed and remains available for new licensing and integration work.
IRIS4000
IRIS4000 is a dual-FXO telephony board developed for Orange Pi Zero and compact PSTN-to-SIP appliances. ZMATRIX produced and sold assembled units and still has limited assembled inventory available for suitable projects.
The product combines analog telephony hardware, embedded software and SIP/PBX integration in one small platform.
Where we focus
ZMATRIX is most relevant when a communications problem involves one or more of the following:
- embedded or resource-constrained targets;
- SIP/RTP integration into an existing product;
- Radio-over-IP or dispatch-oriented voice systems;
- analog/PSTN interfaces that must connect to IP systems;
- intercom, paging or specialized voice endpoints;
- migration of a legacy communications product to a newer platform;
- a custom gateway that does not map cleanly to an off-the-shelf ATA or PBX appliance.
Engineering approach
We prefer small, explicit interfaces over unnecessary framework complexity. The product should own its user experience and hardware behavior; the communications layer should provide standards-based interoperability without taking over the application architecture.
That philosophy is visible in SK400VOP's callback-oriented design and in IRIS4000's combination of purpose-built FXO hardware with a user-space VoIP application.
